I’ve been watching a lot of Master Class lately, specifically one by Tan France “Teaches Style for Everyone” where he talks about building a capsule collection in your wardrobe. Now, I work for Under Armour so, yes, I’m biased and realize not everyone builds their entire wardrobe around our gear…but hypothetically if you could, this is what I recommend having in your closet for your core wardrobe.
The fabric and technology of Under Armour products is the highest quality and lasts. The only reason I’ve had to throw out or donate my old Under Armour baselayers is because I grew out of them.
The whole concept of a capsule collection is that it’s a versatile, core few pieces that can be worn interchangeably to create multiple looks for different occasions. With that in mind, let’s start from the bottom up: shoes.
Capsule Shoes
Unisex UA Street Encounter Shoes

These are great shoes for wearing on the street. I have a pair in white and they’re easy to style and slip on in the summer for errands, brunch or catching a baseball game or could be worn to a golf tournament.
Women’s UA Reign 6 Training Shoes

These training shoes are my favorite for cross training and/or weightlifting b/c they’re a flatter base. I also think the black and tan colors look really cool and it pairs well with a black jogger pant.
Women’s UA Dynamic 2 Training Shoes

A great capsule collection has a great tennis shoe; ideally in white and black. This training shoe comes in those colors so you can easily step into a light colored pair or black. I don’t have these (yet) but I’ve definitely bought an all black pair at the Under Armour outlet, Factory House, when I’ve visited our retail store.
Unisex UA SlipSpeed™ Training Shoes

Now, for something with a bit of flash, the SlipSpeed shoes in a variety of colors are a great option. Super comfy and can be worn with the heel up or down.
Capsule Pants, Shorts, Skirts & Leggings
Women’s UA Unstoppable Joggers

These are my favorite everyday joggers. The Unstoppable collection is fantastic; it’s great fabric and a great fit. I wear these jogging or running errands. They’re a great staple to have in my wardrobe. This line also comes in an ankle pant, cargo, and fleece jogger. So versatile.
Women’s UA Meridian Ankle Leggings

I live in leggings. The Meridian line is, again in my biased opinion, one of the best because they’re soft and durable. I own a few of these leggings in different colors and patterns. Some I wear to workouts others (like my standard black, grey and green) I have for outfits I pair with sweaters and other tops. I especially love wearing these leggings when traveling because they have dual POCKETS for your phone and lip gloss. Leggings are an absolute must in any core collection. You can never go wrong with owning a pair of black, tan and grey. The Meridian line also has cargo joggers.
Women’s UA Meridian 7″ Bike Shorts

As you can imagine, the Meridian bike shorts are also a staple in my capsule wardrobe. I have these in black, grey and navy. They’re actually fantastic to wear under skirts and dresses, especially in Louisville during the humid summer months. They’re also my go-to shorts for walking or outdoor workouts.
Women’s UA Vanish SmartForm Shorts

I don’t know about you but I usually need 1-2 new pairs of shorts every season. I’ve loved getting the Vanish SmartForm shorts because they’re stylish, comfortable and keep me dry in humidity whether I’m working out or walking around. I have these in black and green (I think that color came out in summer of 2024). Still, worth picking up a few pairs of solid shorts for the season.
Women’s UA Vanish 3″ Crinkle Shorts

My other favorite shorts by Under Armour, are these crinkle shorts. They’re so flattering. As the name suggests, the fabric has more of a crinkle to it. It doesn’t cling to you which makes it a great active short that also works for hiking. Again, this neutral color is so versatile to pair with a colorful top.

Ladies always need 1-2 skirts preferably in black and white. This is a fun, active “skort” that has built in shorts with pockets. I have a pair and love wearing these to workouts because they hold my phone. The cut and style is also super flattering.
Women’s UA Tactical ColdGear® Infrared Base Leggings

A note on baselayer bottoms. This product is a foundational item of Under Armour’s so you can usually find them in stores and online. It’s worth getting a pair of baselayers that works under a pair of shorts and/or a looser pair of bottoms for extra insulation. But also, like the ones above, that can be worn on their own. Some baselayers are thicker than others so it’s worth trying a few to see what works best based on your activity or workout.
Capsule Tops, Sweatshirts, Jackets

Baselayers are an absolute essential in a capsule collection. I own a few in my set of standard colors like white, black, blue, red and grey. They’re perfect under a t-shirt, vest or as your top layer under a jacket. I’ve had to size up over the years 😉 but these baselayers are a staple in my wardrobe. This is the crew neck, I also recommend getting the turtle-neck style in Mock long sleeve. It’s worth having in both black and white colors. It pairs with anything during cold weather months and, of course, keeps you warm and helps you stay active.
Women’s UA Icon Charged Cotton® Short Sleeve

Again, having a few quality t-shirts in your capsule wardrobe is invaluable. I usually have white, black, navy and maybe a blue. These are great quality shirts and don’t “pill” over time or fade with washing.
Women’s UA Expanse Fleece-Lined Bomber Jacket

One bomber type of jacket is a good essential to have. If you can, I like a light one for warmer months and one built for colder months like this one that’s fleece lined. They pair well with a lot of leggings and joggers for an easy look. I like bomber jackets in either black or green.
Women’s UA Limitless Down Puffer Parka

This puffer parka is incredibly warm and stylish. I treated myself to it in black, of course, and absolutely love wearing it. It repels water and has Under Armour’s ColdGear® Infrared lining. A soft, thermo-conductive coating that retains body heat. A smart, stylish staple. I love it! One puffer for staying warm on frigid days or travel to snowy locations.

Rounding out the jackets in a capsule collection is a great rain jacket. I have two of these in a light gray color and a darker, stone color. They keep you warm and dry and are easy to pack along or wear as a track suit type of look if you pair them with matching bottoms of a similar color.
Men’s UA Icon Fleece Hoodie Oversized PTH Hoodie

You should own at least one comfy sweatshirt. This. Is. It. Under Armour’s icon fleece is incredibly soft and comfortable. As you may notice, this is a men’s hoodie and yes, I bought one for myself because I liked the design. It’s worth it, especially if you find a men’s size that fits you well as a female; slightly oversized but not too much to the point where it’s obvious and sloppy. I also bought one for my husband in an XL and he loves it.
Capsule Sunglasses

A great pair of sunglasses rounds out the capsule wardrobe in terms of accessories. I love these, they’re unisex (I think I also bought my husband some at one point). They’re a great foundational pair that has a classic look. They’re in my purse or backpack all year round.

Lastly, if you want a bit of flash, aviator-style sunglasses is a great way to go.
So, that’s the capsule wardrobe of my favorite Under Armour products. Shop online or do so on the app. We appreciate it 🙂
