Bourbon Chronicles: Jeptha Creed Distillery
Since this distillery is roughly 30 minutes away from us, we decided to stop in on a weekend for their tasting experience. It’s a family run business – namely by the females as the Master Distiller and Master Marketer. What a great job title 🙂
Location: Jeptha Creed is located in Shelbyville, on the way to the Bluegrass Outlets. We’ve driven by it a few times and have been wanting to stop in.

Tasting experience
We did the spirit tasting which was free and required a reservation. This distillery is one of the younger ones; their bourbon is aged about 4 years which is also on the young side of the aging process. What’s interesting is tasting their product that uses a red corn called Bloody Butcher Corn. We also tried their Moonshine in a lemonade and blackberry flavor. Together, it’s dangerously delicious.

In the main building, there’s a bar area towards the back where they do tastings. A gift shop and bar area are in the front of the building. I really enjoyed looking through the items in their gift shop; I bought one of the branded copper bangles.
The nice part about this property is that it’s conducive to walk-ins. So, if you were driving by and stopped in without any previous reservation for a tour or tasting, there’s a bar where you can order from a list of their cocktails. If you’re hungry…
Food options
There’s also The Creed Cafe that primarily offers pizza but also has a few snacks and small bites. It’s a great menu if you’re tasting bourbon or enjoying a few cocktails while on the property.
Overall
This is a great distillery to dovetail with a visit to Bulleit Distilling Co because of their proximity to each other. If you’re heading east towards the Frankfort area where a handful of other distilleries are located like Castle & Key, Wild Turkey, I highly recommend Jebtha Creed as a stopping point along the way especially since they have food and cocktails available on site. If the weather is nice, grab your drinks & treats and head outside to their porch area out back that overlooks the large yard and barn that’s a stage for their outdoor live music events. You can purchase tickets on their website to their summer outdoor live music events.
I posted more from our visit on my Instagram stories.
